Two pieces of super exciting news at Meld Studios this month. First up, we won our first US client, yay! Secondly, a new Meldster will soon be joining our family. Lauren Argenta (@LaurenArgenta) is bringing her service design experiences from the UK and Europe to Australia. We look forward to introducing her to our clients and industry friends.
We just wrapped-up a great project in which we observed and interviewed staff in order to measure the adoption of new technologies, processes, and physical spaces. Our final presentation was well received and provided important lessons that will shape similar projects to come. We also started a new project which saw us interviewing and setting up diary studies with young people throughout NSW, including Newcastle and Wagga.
A past project that we were involved in for some time – the Department of Education and Communities’ School A to Z service (www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au) – was named as an Official Honoree of the 16th Annual Webby Awards. Congratulations to Iain and Niina, and to our friends at the DEC, on helping to build this great tool for NSW parents.
Steve and Janna have been invited to be mentors at the X Media Lab “Global Media Ideas” event that is part of the Vivid Sydney festival at the Opera House in June. Steve will also be a keynote speaker. Check it out: http://www.xmedialab.com/xml-sydney-2012/
Other places you’ll see us in the coming month include:
- The Service Design 2012 conference in Melbourne this week. Steve will be there as a co-organiser and Iain is giving a talk on The value of consciously designed services.
- The Australian Design Awards. Steve will be judging the new service design category. The awards presentation ceremony will be held in Sydney in July.
- The Intranets 2012 conference. Steve is giving a presentation called Personas: a tool for empathy.
Come and say hello if you see us out and about.
And one final note for this month, happy birthday to Kimberley and Alex who share April 29th as their birthday.
