To do different things, we need to do things differently
You’ve been tasked with a transformation and ended up delivering something that looks different but feels the same.
Sound familiar?
Come and learn with us about how to design for lasting change.
Every organisation we’ve worked with is in some sort of transformation, and every transformation faces tension between two areas of focus:
Doing different things: like create a new product, redesign a sales process, streamline a service, change what we work on.
Doing things differently: like connect across silos, shift governance structures, build multidisciplinary teams, change how we do the work.
In the course of our projects at Meld, we’ve noticed that you need to be good at both these areas.
Some organisations are great at doing different things, but if they don’t also approach things differently there’s little chance for meaningful change to stick.
Whether designing a touchpoint or an organisation's service orchestration, you’re shaping a change for all the people involved.
Designers make change, and it is strange that we don't discuss it in the same way we discuss other aspects of our work.
We’re working on addressing this gap.
Drawing on many projects across sectors, we’ve developed an approach to sensing, shaping, and stewarding change as a natural part of design. Now we’d like to share these skills and practices in a structured way.
Changemaking for Designers is a course designed to help you see your design practice through the lens of change.
Across nine weeks you’ll join a series of 90 minute structured sessions in a group of your peers to learn how to:
- spot where change could happen,
- shape how that change is made, and
- steward your organisation through a change
The course is designed to help you feel more confident when encountering resistance to change, and find it easier to help groups productively work together.
In each session you'll
- learn new skills and methods for working with change
- setup intentional opportunities for you to practice these new skills in your day-to-day work
- reflect on your growth with a network of like-minded peers.
