Before colonisation, the lands Meldsters now work from had been tended by peoples of the Whadjak, Kulin, Ngunawal, and Eora Nations for 80,000 years. We recognise this history and the continuing connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to these lands, waters, and communities; and acknowledge that their sovereignty was never ceded.
We fiercely believe in the importance of recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Australian Constitution and creating a formal mechanism so that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People will finally have a say on the policies and laws that affect their communities.
To create space for constructive dialogue and in the hope of contributing meaningfully to the conversation, we’ve signed up to support the Together Yes! campaign by hosting kitchen table conversations with our people. Get in touch if that’s something you’d like to know more about.
