Topic Description

Following on from our last salon event “We can’t do this alone: Working in a transdisciplinary way” we wanted to continue exploring how we might learn from and partner with other disciplines. Through that discussion we concluded that we have great opportunity to find new ways to approach challenges, research, problem solve, and come up with solutions otherwise impossible to achieve. We want to further the conversation, focusing specifically on Health. We will look at the design and production of Medical Devices, the challenges of design in isolation and broader systemic insights around the challenges that face the health system today and into the future.

We welcome you to Meld Studios to explore how we can, together, make more lasting and impactful change in Health.

Willem Mees van der Bijl
Design & Entrepreneurship Group Leader at ide Group

Willem has over 15 years of experience developing and implementing new product innovations and has led design and engineering teams in The Netherlands and Australia. Among the products he helped realise have been a range of child safety products and medical devices. Over the past 10 years he has also been collaborating with universities to research and develop innovative ways of creating new solutions that help build better futures.
