Scott McCloud at the Sydney Opera House

A gaggle of Meldsters (I think that’s the correct collective term) are pleased to have got tickets for Scott McCloud’s upcoming session on “understanding comics” at the Sydney Opera House, Sunday 21st August. As the program says…

Comics and cartooning are a language unlike any other. Take a visual journey into the art of “writing with pictures” with Scott McCloud and discover how new stories, new ideas, and new technologies are changing the comics landscape in surprising and unpredictable directions.

Author and comics artist Scott McCloud puts today’s trends into perspective in a fast-moving visual presentation.

Scott McCloud has been writing and drawing comics since 1984. His book Understanding Comics was a New York Times Notable book for 1994, and is available in 16 languages. McCloud has lectured and consulted on comics and digital media for Google, MIT, Pixar, Sony, and the Smithsonian Institution. Frank Miller (Sin City, 300) has described McCloud as “just about the smartest guy in comics.”

We hope to see you there too.
