The opportunity to design better organisations
Out of the horrors of Covid-19, as organisations are taking stock and re-evaluating their business models, there is an opportunity to redefine organisational purpose and create better, more human-centred organisations. Or alternatively we could be sent spiralling backwards and all the customer-centred advancements of recent years could end in nowt as organisations get distracted by making the bucks they need to ensure survival.
Rather than allowing our organisations to attempt to snap back to their previous shape, or be manipulated purely by financial necessity, we should help organisations take shapes previously unseen and instil at their heart a higher-order purpose that recognises the importance of humans and environment — not simply making money.
Over at Medium I’ve published an article which is a precis of the talk I gave at Design Leadership (transcript, slides and audio available from the link).
